The Pocket Sized Radiation Detector

This is the handheld device that works with an iPhone to detect radiation. The ultra-lightweight dosimeter requires no calibration and simply connects to an iPhone's 30-pin dock, detecting harmful gamma rays and displaying results on the phone's screen via a free app. A color-coded meter shows at a glance whether radiation levels are safe, elevated, or dangerous. Users can also switch to the detailed digital display, which tracks hourly, cumulative, and average exposure levels, with map and social media functions that allow results to be shared so those nearby may be alerted to a hazard. The pocket-size detector is powered by the iPhone or requires one AA battery to work as a stand-alone alarm.
