The Seaside Jatoba Rocker

A classic porch chair with modern, ergonomic support, as well as being impervious to weather, our outdoor rocker is constructed of kiln-dried Jatoba wood cut to shape, not bent like many patio furnishings, to optimize comfort. Jatoba, also known as Brazilian Cherry, is the same wood used on many decks, playground structures, railroad crossties, and marine equipment, and is known for its density, hardness, and superior resistance to the elements. Because of its extreme hardness (nearly twice as hard as red oak and 235% harder than teak), tools have only recently become sophisticated enough to machine the wood into fine outdoor tables and chairs, and ours have been carefully designed so that angles gently conform to the body. Stainless steel screws, non water-soluble glue, and mortise and tenon construction add further protection against harsh outdoor conditions.
