The Sunburn Alert

This device was selected by the Environmental Protection Agency as part of their nationwide sun education program to make school children aware of the harmful effects of excessive exposure to the sun's light. Lightweight, it fits in the palm of a hand to precisely monitor the amount of UV absorbed by the skin. It has SPF settings for most sunscreens and sounds a warning (pulse beep) when the recommended exposure time has been exceeded. According to the EPA, overexposure to the sun can not only result in painful sunburn, but may also lead to melanoma. This is of particular importance with regard to children, since most skin damage occurs within the first 18-20 years of life. An LCD screen consistently displays information for at-a-glance reference. Excellent for most outdoor activities (boating, fishing, golfing and keeping track of how long children are exposed to the sun when playing outdoors). Weatherproof, durable ABS plastic construction.
