This is the authentic U.S. government-issue cotton flag made to the specifications prescribed by Title 4 of the U.S. Code and flown over the U.S. Veteran's Administration and the U.S. Congress. Made of 100% cotton grown and harvested in Alabama--the traditional, time-honored fabric used for U.S. flags for its natural feel and pleasant heft--the flag is woven and dyed in South Carolina where it is meticulously constructed by hand using lock-stitched seams. Its heavy canvas duck heading is fixed with #2 rolled rim solid brass grommets for affixing to a halyard's snap hooks for added strength during raising or lowering (flagpole sold below). The 13 alternating red and white stripes representing the original colonies that rebelled against England are handsewn at precise 1.26" intervals (using a hoist-to-fly ratio of 1:9) and the 50 stars, embroidered onto the blue canton representing the Union, are offset in five horizontal rows of six and four horizontal rows of five. 80" L x 42" (1 lb.)
