Product Story

Named after the 15th century Mediterranean privateer Baba Aruj and his son Khair ad Din, who both went by "Barbarossa," or "red beard," this is the finely crafted solid wooden pirate ship that has a working swivel cannon that ejects wooden roundshot up to five feet, and a crow's nest 12" above the deck. In addition to a red-bearded figurehead, the ship has a distinct forecastle, quarterdeck, and poop deck that include a working capstan, grating that reveals the hold, and a ship's wheel that turns. Three cloth sails, including a jib and topsail, hang from a smooth wooden bowsprit and yardarm that attach securely with elastic rigging. The stern opens to reveal storage space that can accommodate all loose parts for easy transport, and the ship comes with four 3 1/2" hand-painted pirates. Minimal assembly. Ages 3 and up. 19 1/2" H x 19 1/2" L x 6" W. (4 lbs.)
