Product Story

This is the hat that uses a permethrin-permeated fabric layer to repel mosquitos. Recommended by the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for use on apparel, permethrin is an odorless synthetic insecticide that simulates the natural repellent compounds issued by chrysanthemums. The hat is EPA-registered and helps to prevent insect-borne illnesses such as the Zika virus, West Nile virus, and Lyme disease, as well as the discomfort of welts. Unlike repellent sprays that must be constantly reapplied, the hat provides continuous protection against insects without DEET or fragrances. The nylon mesh keeps the head cool with a moisture wicking sweatband and breathable ventilation system built into the crown, and protects against the sun with a 3 1/2" wide brim and UPF 50+ rating. An adjustable chin strap keeps it securely fastened. Retains mosquito repellency for 70 washings. Imported. Khaki. If in between sizes, order the next size up. M (hat size 7-7 1/8; head circumference 22-22 1/2"), L (7 1/4-7 3/8; 22 3/4-23 1/4"), or XL (7 1/2-7 5/8; 23 5/8-24").

How To Determine Your Hat Size

To get the proper fit in a hat, we recommend that you measure your head to determine your proper hat size.

How to Measure Your Head
  • Use a good quality tape measure, such as those used for sewing, to achieve the most accurate measurement.
  • Wrap the measuring tape around your head. The tape should be placed where you want the hat to rest, usually 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch above the top of your ears. For the best-looking and most comfortable fit, the bottom of the tape should touch your eyebrows while positioned straight around your head. Don't pull the tape too snugly or your hat will fit that tightly.
  • Once you've positioned the tape exactly where you want it, measure to the nearest one-eighth inch, or three millimeters.
  • Measure your head a second and third time to ensure accuracy.
