Made from 100% cotton, the yarn is mercerized before weaving at one of only two places in the United States that still does true mercerizing. The mercerizing process is the single most expensive process that can be done in yarn making, and produces strength and suppleness not found in common, untreated cotton. Mercerization is a caustic wash in a vat that cleans out all extra vegetable matter in cotton, as well as foreign matter and oils, resulting in preeminently clean yarn. The process also pre-shrinks the fiber, which is then woven into a slightly oversized blanket which will shrink a minimal 3%, ensuring it always fits your bed. The tightly twisted, dense herringbone weave results in increased resiliency to shrug off years of the turning, bunching, and stretching blankets are subject to during a night's sleep.
