The phone connects to a free, confidential service by which a specially trained operator using voice recognition software transcribes spoken words into captions that appear on its integral LCD screen. Captions may be turned on or off at any time during the call, and up to 480 lines of text is saved in memory for review after you hang up. In addition to amplifying call volume up to 40 dB, the phone also has adjustable tone for enhanced clarity. The phone features a 97-number address book, three speed-dial buttons for frequently called numbers, and last-number redial. Captioning may also be used for Spanish-to-Spanish conversations.
