The Aeroboat

This versatile vehicle allows a pilot and a passenger to scout a tropical island from overhead, then land on the water and boat in to a secluded lagoon to enjoy an afternoon on a quiet beach. Anglers can soar over dense woods to a favorite lake or river, alight on the water, spend the day casting, then fly home with the day's catch. Part fanboat, part glider, this flying machine has a powerful 65 horsepower engine for cruising across water and through the air with equal facility. A 34-foot wingspan provides a generous surface for lift and smooth turns in flight. A mere 200 feet of water surface is sufficient for take-offs and landings, and the aircraft has a flight ceiling of 8,000 feet. The engine can be turned off, enabling the vehicle to act as a stable glider that quietly eases down for soft landings on the water. With the wings detached, the unit speeds across aquatic surfaces from rivers to lakes to the ocean. Small enough to park in a garage, the unit transports easily and sets up quickly--it's ready to fly in just 20 minutes. The inflatable boat portion has an aircraft aluminum hull for strength and stability without excessive weight. The wing frame is also aircraft aluminum with an eight-ounce, stabilized Dacron membrane. The engine is a two-cylinder, two-stroke liquid cooled model. For maximum durability and safety, all tubework is constructed to rescue boat standards, and the seating frame is 2-inch continuous bent stainless steel. Seats are molded plastic and all connections and cables are made with marine-quality parts. The flier has an aerial range of 90 miles on ten gallons of fuel at a cruising speed of 45 miles per hour. The unit can carry up to 600 pounds passenger weight and the loaded boat draft is 10 inches. Ages 16 and up with adult supervision. Safe operation requires helmets, life jackets (not included), complete training and instruction.
