Every winter bamboo plants in China's Anji region are exposed to a two month freeze that reduces the flow of sap, resulting in a slower rate of growth that promotes a dense, durable bamboo with a tensile strength greater than steel. The bamboo is kiln-dried and carbonized to remove excess moisture that can lead to cracks and splinters, ensuring years of reliable use. The 1/4"-thick mat is finished with seven coats of the same scuff-resistant protection used on hardwood floors. A felt backing keeps the mat from shifting and protects floors, and the rounded edges enable chairs to easily roll on and off. Folds for easy storage.
