The Apollo 17 50th Anniversary Silver Coin

This is the genuine silver commemorative coin that celebrates the 50th anniversary of Apollo 17, the final mission of NASA’s historic Apollo program and the last to put a man on the moon. Minted in five troy ounces of 99.9% silver, the NASA-approved design is highlighted with an extremely rare artifact, an actual piece of golden “Kapton” thermal foil used on the Apollo 17 Lunar Excursion Module. The obverse of the coin depicts the lunar landscape with an astronaut’s boot print in the foreground and the Lunar Roving Vehicle in the background. Issued by Ascension Island—tracking station location for all Apollo missions—the reverse features the country’s coat of arms with a denomination of 10 pounds.
