"Wicked Jack" Scarborough disappeared under mysterious circumstances only a few weeks after opening his namesake tavern, upon which a feisty old widow known as “Ol' Gran” assumed control. Even the roughest merchant seamen knew he needed to be on his best behavior if he wanted to enjoy the specialties Ol' Gran served, especially her moist, flavorful cake that quickly became the tavern's most popular creation. Made with true Jamaican rum, the cake was said to be so delicious, nary a sailor nor a landlubber could resist its moist, buttery texture and rum-soaked glaze.
