This is the epic radio production of the original Star Wars trilogy that captivated listeners and drew the largest audience in National Public Radio history. More than 750,000 people tuned in to each episode to hear the radio version of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader's adventures in a galaxy far, far away. This 15-hour retelling of the trilogy includes many new scenes of back story and character development not included in the movies (but which are officially recognized as part of the Star Wars canon), such as an early "skyhopper" race on Tatooine for Luke and Princess Leia's acquisition of the Death Star plans. Star Wars creator George Lucas authorized the use of the movies' original sound effects and music for this saga, and some of the film's stars reprised their roles for the production, including Mark Hamill as Luke, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, and Billy Dee Williams as Lando. The series also includes several bonus tracks of cast interviews and historical material. This limited-edition series of 7,500 includes 15 CDs in a foil-stamped collector's case. 6 1/2" H x 5 1/4" W x 5" D. (3 lbs.)
