This is a faithful replica of a “Jacket, Combat, Winter” issued to U.S. armored vehicle crewmen during WWII. Colloquially referred to by soldiers as the “tanker jacket”, its waist cut, bi-swing back, and lack of bulky protuberances improved a crouching or sitting crewman’s mobility inside a tank’s cramped interior. Every bit as lightweight and comfortable as its predecessor, this jacket uses the same 12-oz. cotton twill dyed to an authentic OD for its outer shell and two-ply wool for its knit collar, waistband, and cuffs. Updated for modern wear, its 50% wool/50% nylon body lining and quilted 100% polyester sleeve lining provide the all-season warmth of the original. Particular to the revised PQD Spec. 26A designation from early 1942, it has two cotton-lined front slash pockets and a wool-backed wind flap behind the brass zipper. Made by Cockpit, suppliers of outerwear to the USAF and Navy, it is cut for a generous fit. Khaki. Men’s sizes M (40), L (42-44), XL (46), and XXL (48-50). (3 lb)
