Product Story

Since the beginning of the 19th century, the Herr family of Triberg, Germany has been creating these genuine cuckoo clocks. Today, Hubert Herr is the only cuckoo clock manufacturer still making the movements and hand carving the casings in traditional German motifs from Black Forest pine and linden wood. The casing is representative of a traditional cuckoo clock roof, bird, and leaf and flower carvings. The cuckoo comes to life every half and full hour. As a double-door, musical cuckoo clock, the second door opens on the full hour; after the cuckoo has called, a zither player appears and the tune Edelweiss is played. There is a lever to shut off the sound. Wind the clock daily by raising the three pine cone weights. Case and carvings are stained in a rustic walnut; flowers are hand painted. Crossed front with a wood dial. Precision mechanical movement with steel pinions and brass wheels and plates. 12" H x 8 3/4" W x 6 1/2" D. (4 1/4 lbs.)
