Product Story

This chair matches the exact specifications of the original 1968 model created by world-renowned artist Eero Aarnio of Finland. Some of Aarnio's acclaimed works reside in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Constructed to hang by a single chain, the sturdy chair is a comfortable place to sit as well as a distinctive example of modern furniture art. The "bowl" is cast by hand in the original molds first used by Aarnio in 1968. Durable and strong, the chair-and-chain can support 440 pounds when hung properly. It comes with a 79" chain, a suspension hook that affixes to an overhead wooden beam and a snap hook that connects to the chair. Alternately, the chain may be mounted in a concrete ceiling (requires a heavy-duty plug of a minimum 1/3" diameter plug not included). With hanging instructions. The bubble is acrylglass, with a chromed-steel bar around the opening. The cushions are light grey leather (imported). 42 1/2" H x 41" W x 33" D. (88 lbs.)
