This experimentation kit allows children to grow their own crystals using the same original formula employed by astronauts in space 30 years ago to grow perfect crystals in a zero-gravity environment. Prospective scientists can re-create these crystal formations using ten included crystal growing experiments, ranging from hexagonal quartz to isometric fluorite. In one week, nucleation occurs by which the provided seed crystals evolve from a solute to their final crystal lattice structure; experiments may be conducted repeatedly from the same growth medium. An included CD uses videos and animation to provide information about the International Space Station and crystal growth; requires PC for viewing. 17" H x 2 1/4" W x 11 1/2" D. (3 1/2 lbs.)
