Product Story

Crafted in Kent, England by the renowned firm, Stevenson Brothers, creators and refurbishers of classic rocking horses, this handcrafted heirloom-quality rocking horse has a real horse hair mane and tail, and is based on a 1910 design originally manufactured by the legendary F. H. Ayres. Throughout and shortly after the Victorian era, Ayres was the manufacturer and purveyor of the world's finest carved equine figures which are prized by children, collectors, and British royalty. This authentic and lovingly detailed museum-worthy replica is hand-crafted of tulip wood (poplar) with a beech wood stand and genuine leather tack, a suede blanket, and brass stirrups. The handpainted horse is covered in a dappled gray finish and includes exceptional details such as realistic muscle lines, an energetic facial expression, and an individually numbered and dated brass plaque. The substantial horse, with a total weight over 150 lbs., has a sturdy steel rocking mechanism and solid stand which will not tip over even during the most enthusiastic rides. 50" H x 22" W x 60" L. (154 lbs.)
