This is the water-resistant bag typical of the haversack issued to U.S. soldiers to hold their mess kits, food, and other possibles during the late 19th-century. Handcrafted by Korchmar, makers of superior bags, it is constructed using the same wax-impregnated cotton canvas that was used by the U.S. Army to waterproof tents and trenchcoats, resulting in a water-resistant, durable fabric that will withstand the harshest conditions. The bag is trimmed with hand-selected, top-grain American cowhide colored with natural dyes, including the closure strap and loop, handle, and adjustable shoulder strap. It has a front zippered pocket under the flap and a zippered back pocket on the outside, and it is closed securely with a quick-release, adjustable metal buckle. Adjustable side tabs allow for expansion. The generous interior is lined with nylon and it has two pockets. Olive. 14 1/2" H x 14 1/2" L x 6 1/2" D. (3 1/2 lbs.)
