Only available from Hammacher Schlemmer, this is the engravable pocket watch with a proof condition Indian Head/Buffalo commemorative silver coin framed into the watchcase cover. The design for this 1 1/2" diam. round was inspired by the iconic buffalo nickel, whose original 1913 artwork was created by acclaimed American sculptor James Earle Fraser. The outside of the watch case cover displays the obverse portrait of a native American Chieftain, said to be based on three separate Native Indian Chiefs. The hinged brushed-metal cover opens to reveal the coin’s reverse image, featuring the majestic bison-on-mound design. Unlike lesser collectible coins that are merely plated with precious metals, this coin contains a full Troy ounce of .999 fine silver, polished to a gleaming finish and deep satin luster. The Japanese quartz movement keeps impeccable time with a sweeping second hand and easy-to-read black numerals. The back of the steel case back may be engraved with up to three characters (in the exact order that they are entered) and a date. With 14" fob chain, velvet drawstring bag, and certificate of authenticity. Coin is not legal tender. 2" Diam. x 1/2" D. (4 oz.)
