Product Story

This is the two-volume visual history set that commemorates the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Specially commissioned maps and photographs of artifacts from the National World War II Museum in New Orleans impart never-before-seen drama and detail to the greatest military invasion in history. The first volume details the background, planning, and execution of the Normandy invasion, with chapters devoted to airborne operations, Utah, Omaha, and Pointe du Hoc. The set includes pictures of artifacts, such as a soldier’s hand-drawn map of Easy Red’s landing zone that shows natural and man-made obstacles, an OD jacket stained from battle, and a pair of paratrooper’s boots. The second volume provides excerpts of oral histories of the soldiers themselves. Hardcover. Volume 1 256 pages; Volume 2 192 pages.
