Product Story
This is the desktop kit that places the care of a Dawn Redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) in the hands of a dedicated desktop forest curator. Formerly thought to have only been a fossil until first discovered in 1946 growing amid a Chinese rice paddy, the tree is a deciduous conifer that grows 1"-3" per year—its light green foliage will turn bronze and drop in the Fall as part of normal growth. Intended for bonsai, this kit includes native Asian tree seed, moss seed, three coconut fiber seed pots, bonsai growing medium, bonsai scissors, and a river stone. Comes with detailed instructions in a 9 1/2" sq. x 3 1/4" H recycled steel box that can serve as its growing container. (4 1/2 lbs.)
