The Folding Tandem Bicycle

This is the tandem bicycle that collapses for easy transportation and storage. With one click, the pedals snap flat, and a simple lever releases the front third of the bicycle to fold back on itself. This reduces the bicycle's length to 61," less than most one-person bikes, so it can easily be stored in a garage and transported on a standard car bicycle rack. The bike's seven speeds, controlled by a thumb shifter on the front handlebars, makes it easy to climb hills or cruise along flat paths, while the independent pedaling system lets the front rider do all the pedaling when the back rider needs a rest (back pedals won't spin). The steel frame is lightweight for smooth handling yet sturdy enough to support two adults up to 6'2" tall, weighing a combined 450 lbs.
