Handmade in Somerset, England by Owen Barry, renowned shearling and leather craftsmen whose origins date back to the early 1800s, this is the genuine shearling ivy cap. A staple of casual dress since 1571 when an Act of Parliament compelled men to wear "flat caps" on Sundays and holidays, the ivy cap still retains favor among English gentlemen today. The shearling is tanned from the thick, rich coat of merino sheep that roam wind-swept fields, resulting in a soft, smooth shearling interior and suede leather exterior with a supple nap finish. Artisans hand-sew the cap with double-stitched seams to ensure durability and the shearling interior swaths the head in warmth, insulates it from wind, and naturally wicks moisture away. Shearling-lined ear flaps can be worn around ears or tucked under the hat. (1 1/4 lbs.)

To get the proper fit in a hat, we recommend that you measure your head to determine your proper hat size.
- Use a good quality tape measure, such as those used for sewing, to achieve the most accurate measurement.
- Wrap the measuring tape around your head. The tape should be placed where you want the hat to rest, usually 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch above the top of your ears. For the best-looking and most comfortable fit, the bottom of the tape should touch your eyebrows while positioned straight around your head. Don't pull the tape too snugly or your hat will fit that tightly.
- Once you've positioned the tape exactly where you want it, measure to the nearest one-eighth inch, or three millimeters.
- Measure your head a second and third time to ensure accuracy.
