Made in Thoissey, France by Fermob, holder of the original folding chair patent from 1889, these are the genuine Parisian bistro chairs. Preferred by 19th-century bistro proprietors for their rugged charm and stowable design (which allowed owners to avoid a fixed-terrace tax), the folding metal chairs became a hallmark of outdoor dining at Parisian cafés. Updated for enhanced durability, the bistro chairs are made from rugged lacquered steel and undergo a 13-step process that provides weather resistance and prevents corrosion. The chairs have two-slat backrests and five-slat seats and are finished with a 100% polyester paint that is applied electrostatically for even coverage and baked at 193° F, creating an impervious barrier to UV rays and ensuring the color will never fade.
