The wave siping razor-cut into the rubber, slip-resistant soles were originally designed in 1935 by Paul Sperry to resemble the wave-like grooves on the bottom of dog's paws that naturally keep them stable on slick, wet surfaces. The result is a sole with water channeling grooves that provide sure footing even in tempest-ridden seas. The hand-sewn moccasin construction provides a comfortable, almost personalized fit, right down to the 360° lacing system. To help maintain sea legs, the shock absorbing EVA heel cup provides cushioning. The uppers are full-grain, oil-tanned leather that resists stains and water.
