Product Story

This is the handheld celestial explorer that can identify Saturn, Betelgeuse, the Andromeda Galaxy, or any of 30,000 planets, stars, nebulae, galaxies and other celestial objects when pointed anywhere at the nighttime sky. It uses an internal 12-channel GPS receiver and electronic accelerometers to locate your viewing angle, position, time, and date, and provides a complete multimedia presentation through its full-color 480 x 234 resolution LCD screen and integral speaker, including relevant videos, astrophotography, audio descriptions, and interesting facts such as scientific data, mythology, and folklore. A "Tonight's Best Tour" function eliminates the guesswork from astronavigat ion by plotting what is most notable on any given night of the year for the viewers location. Simply follow the onscreen arrow to point the device in the correct direction, and it will circle the object on a star map, showing all "signpost" objects in the vicinity for location of targets. A built-in introductory video explains the simple, intuitive controls. Headphones included. Requires four AA batteries that provide up to seven hours of operation. 9 1/2" H x 2 1/2" W x 7" D. (14 1/4 oz.)
