The iPhone Universal Remote

This is the thumb-sized device that turns any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch into a universal remote control, replicating familiar buttons on its touch screen display. The infrared transmitter plugs into an iPhone's dock connector and uses a free app that lets you choose a make and model from a database containing thousands of devices, displaying its buttons on the iPhone's screen. The device operates nearly any component commanded by infrared signals, from televisions and DVD players to stereo systems to home lighting. It also lets you program time-saving "macros" that perform multiple commands in a single stroke. Its command screen accommodates nine components at a time, but there's no limit to how many it can store.
