This is the indoor turkey fryer that ranked highest in every test conducted by The Hammacher Schlemmer Institute, earning the title of The Best. Using less oil than typical vats and a rotating rotisserie, this 1,800-watt fryer cooked a 14-lb. turkey in a little over an hour, producing a crispy exterior and tender, juicy interior. Lesser units could only handle a 12-lb. bird and didn't cook as well, leaving the meat dry and tough. The rotisserie has double handles for easing the turkey into the vat, unlike others that are simply dropped into hot oil. The fryer’s front-mounted spigot was far easier to drain than units that required awkward lifting and dumping of an interior vat. An indicator light illuminates when oil reaches the desired temperature (175º F to 375º F). The rotisserie can be removed for traditional deep frying and the unit easily converts to a steamer big enough for clambakes.
