The Orbiting Solar System Planetarium

This is the motorized solar system that transforms any dark room into a planetarium. The glowing central sun illuminates the surrounding eight planets, as well as the dwarf Pluto, in colorful detail, so viewers can marvel at everything from Saturn’s rings to the red surface of Mars. The planets are shown in their true order of proximity to the sun, and the integrated motor launches them into orbit to help young astronomers understand their constant, counter-clockwise motion. In a dark room, the sun converts into a projector that shines the constellations of the Northern Hemisphere, from Cassiopeia to Ursa Minor, onto the ceiling for indoor star-gazing.
