Product Story

This is the reverent reprint of Salvador Dalí’s rare cookbook, featuring 136 decadent recipes and the artist’s surrealist illustrations. Released in limited edition in 1973, the text was a fitting accompaniment to the Spaniard’s tendency to incorporate food into his paintings and to throw extravagant dinner parties with his wife. He devised the book to appeal to chefs and art lovers “devoted to the pleasures of taste,” and it includes such epicurian edibles as Bush of Crayfish in Viking Herbs and Toffee with Pine Cones. Organized by meal course, including aphrodisiacs, the recipes are accompanied by quintessential Dalí images, including a medieval queen’s skirt formed from crustaceans and a pair of thousand-year-old eggs frying in the melting heat of a desert. Hardcover. 320 pages. 12" L x 8 1/2" W x 1 1/3" D. (4 lbs.)
