Product Story

This is the skittles game designed by England's oldest games manufacturer, John Jaques (since 1795), that uses wooden pins depicting the Queen's Scots Guards who stand watch at Buckingham Palace. The centuries-old progenitor of bowling, and still played in pubs in England's southwest and Wales, nine precisely balanced pins from this set are placed 6 1/4" apart in a diamond formation; three wooden balls are rolled in succession at the skittles from 16' away with the objective of knocking them all down with one roll. The game includes nine 9" tall skittles and three wooden balls--all sanded smooth and handpainted in a high-gloss lacquer that will not chip or fade, ensuring years of use. Intended for play on a hard, flat surface. Includes storage case. Ages 3 and up. (5 1/2 lbs.)
