The Shetland Isle Pullover

This is the men’s vest crafted by artisans using the finest local Shetland wool and traditional Fair Isle stitching. The cozy vest—known locally as a pullover-—is imported from the remote Shetlands, a Scottish archipelago near Scandinavia known for its rolling hills and lashing North Sea winds. While this terrain provides grazing for the hardy Shetland breed of sheep, whose coats are prized for their soft, fine fleece, the harsh climate has spurred a long history of producing and wearing thick woolen garments that insulate against blustery conditions. The pullover’s 120-year-old manufacturer oversees all eight steps of the yarn production on its premises, resulting in impeccable quality. The indigenous Fair Isle pattern, named for one of the Shetland Islands, is recognizable by its rows of bicolor crosses and octagons.
