When pesky squirrels attempt to steal seed from this bird feeder, their weight activates an internal motor that spins the perch ring, propelling the intruders safely but decisively away. Because the perch won't activate for weights under 8 oz., visiting birds can eat in peace, while squirrels have a devil of a time hanging on for more than a few seconds. (Red squirrels and chipmunks may not be heavy enough to trigger the motor.) Holds four quarts of seed to attract everything from goldfinches to cardinals, and feeds them through four ports at perch level.
