Available exclusively from Hammacher Schlemmer, this is the pillowcase you take along when traveling to create a protective barrier against the allergens harbored in hotel pillows that can hinder a restful slumber. Utilizing patented DuPont Hybrid Membrane Technology (HMT) that creates a nanofiber material with pores only 1.8 microns in diameter--compared to woven fabrics with 6-10 micron diam. pores--the pillowcase effectively blocks out common irritants such as pet dander, dust mites, and pollen, as well as microscopic allergens like mold, viruses, and bacteria. The membrane is electronically heat sealed between layers of blended polyester, resulting in a fabric that's softer, cooler, and quieter than allergen barriers made from vinyl. The pillowcase maintains its allergen blocking properties through 50 washings, unlike lesser fabric barriers that can lose as much as half their effectiveness after just a few washings.
