The TV Videophone

Using the large screen and clarity of your home TV for image transmission, this clever device allows you to enjoy the sound and sight of your friends and loved ones. Incredibly easy to use, you simply plug the small box into your own TV and a nearbye phone jack for live, full-color motion video during your phone conversations. The system comes with two video boxes, one for you and one to give to friends or family. Since the video appears on your own TV screen, the image is larger and easier to see than with systems incorporating their own viewing screens, accommodating families and group phone calls. Video reception is usually 15 frames per second, depending on the quality of the phone connection; detail and movement options allow you to adjust the reception to either capture close detail in a steady image, or to adjust for a more active frame such as with a group shot. It offers three viewing options: a "self view" that allows callers to gauge what their own image looks like; "other party view" that shows the person you are conversing with; and "combo view," which shows both parties on the call. Users can access the system from across the room thanks to the remote control that nests in a recessed compartment in the base box. The small camera on the box is adjustable to keep you in frame at a variety of heights. Setup is simple and takes only minutes. Analog phones required; not for use with cellular phones.
