This is the detailed working replica of the mystic seer as seen in the Twilight Zone episode Nick of Time on November 18, 1960. An homage to the tabletop napkin and menu holder encountered by the episode’s protagonist—the rather famous William Shatner—it compels the curious and intrigued to deposit a penny into its 1¢ coin slot while asking a yes/no question regarding one’s amorous or financial future. With fangs, horns, and a jeweled left eye that suggests this diviner has itself consorted with denizens of the astral plane, the seer delivers a fortune in the form of a 2" x 3" card when the box’s lever is pulled. Printed affirmations (“Your chances are good”) or ambiguities (“The answer to that is obvious”) reflect the unpredictability of prognostication.
