The Wall Mounted 1/2 Acre Mosquito Trap

This is the wall-mounted trap that attracts and kills mosquitoes across one-half of an acre without harmful chemicals. Only available from Hammacher Schlemmer, it mounts to a wall with an included shepherd’s hook and bracket that makes it appear more like a wall sconce, enabling it to blend seamlessly with a home’s exterior. It emits odorless carbon dioxide (the same gas people expel during respiration) and light to lure mosquitoes. Carbon dioxide is generated when ultraviolet rays from the internal fluorescent bulbs react with a titanium dioxide coating inside the trap. When the mosquitoes are drawn inside the device, an integrated fan traps the insects and sends them to a removable compartment where they die of dehydration. Unlike propane systems that require frequent refills or electrocution traps that release pathogens when an insect is killed, this model uses 3,000-hour rated UV bulbs and does not create biological agents.
