These are the only sound-aware headphones in the world that apply active digital noise cancelling technology to precisely reproduce the exact amplitude and opposite polarity of incoming low-frequency sounds common to airplanes, commuter transportation, and office environments without compromising audio quality. A microphone inside each ear basket detects any sound that passes through the circumaural earcups and sends it to a digital processor where sounds are neutralized. Music from a connected audio source is processed through a separate digital equalizer that enhances mid-range vocals and alleviates excessive bass, allowing you to hear details and nuances of recordings. High-frequency sounds are blocked by the comfortable, passive padding of the earcups. A monitor switch allows you to temporarily disable noise cancelling so you can hear outside noise without having to remove the headphones. A rechargeable lithium battery provides up to 16 hours of active noise-cancelling; two included AA batteries extend usage up to 28 hours--plenty of coverage for two transpacific flights or nearly three weeks of commuting to and from work.
