Product Story

This is the beginner's telescope that helps children find stars, constellations, and planets by coordinating with graphic software that calculates telescope settings instantly. The software allows young astronomers to examine a re-creation of the night sky and overlay the image with reference data such as constellations, the horizontal celestial coordinate system, or the names of planets, nebulae and major stars. Simply select Jupiter, the Horse Head Nebula, or any of the 600,000 other clickable celestial objects to view a readout of the current altitude and azimuth for setting their telescope dials and finding their quarry. The dials and compass are gently illuminated to simplify nighttime observations. With magnification augmented by a 2X Barlow lens, the telescope delivers power up to 206X, and an erecting prism ensures the correct orientation of images. Aluminum tripod included. Requires two AAA batteries (not included). For Windows Vista, XP, or Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5. Ages 8 and up. 33" L x 32" W x 48" H.
