This sweater is made from 100% boiled wool, a 10th century Persian technique that turns ordinary wool into a luxuriously soft and naturally wind- and water-resistant fabric. Requiring twice the amount of wool used in traditional wool apparel, boiled wool garments are washed in hot water under gentle agitation, causing the wool fibers to interlock and condense to half their original size. The process creates a supple hand that won't irritate skin like standard wool, and the interlocking fibers create thousands of tiny pockets that retain heat and prevent wind penetration. The Ridgeline-style sweater has a soft fleece collar lining and ribbed, elasticized cuffs and bottom that seal out cold drafts. The relaxed fit makes it ideal for wearing alone or over a shirt.
