This is the five-piece brain teaser beloved by mathematician and Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll. The challenge is to transport the farmer and all his purchases from the market across the river in the fewest trips. Only two can fit in the boat at a time and, if unattended, the wolf will eat the sheep or the sheep will eat the cabbage.
